Brown Community Center Nutritional Program
Tarkiln Acres is our meal service for local residents. The Vineland Housing Authority and the Cumberland County Office on Aging Nutritional Program recently celebrated their 30-year partnership. This partnership consists of a county nutritional program using the VHA's Brown Community Center to prepare and serve nutritionally balanced meals. The Office on Aging is responsible for planning and preparation. The meals are served Monday through Friday at noon at 191 West Chestnut Avenue in Vineland.
History of Tarkiln Acres
During the last part of 2003, the VHA performed a complete renovation of the Senior Center. By January 2004, the VHA had opened the newly renovated hall, which now houses a commercial-sized kitchen with additional storage for supplies. We also enlarged the laundry facility, installed handicap-accessible bathrooms, and hired professionals to decorate the activities room.
The program has typically served between 70 and 100 residents daily. The VHA has enjoyed the success of the past 30-year partnership with the County Nutrition Program and is looking forward to the same success and continued partnership for years to come.
